Causes Of Hemorrhoids

Many people are suffering from hemorrhoids but you will discover that very few of them are actually making any attempt to seek for medical help. The reason for this is really not farfetched. The fact that comedians and some comic articles have turned individuals with hemorrhoids into laughing stocks has made it impossible for people with the condition to come out boldly and seek for help. And this is as a result of the stigma and shame that has been attached to it. Instead of visiting a medical practitioner to get help, the patients usually assume that the pain will go away with time and sometimes worry about it when it persist or re- occur, especially when the pain becomes severe. People with this health condition should not be close- mouthed. They should try and seek for medical help early to prevent it getting worse with time. And if you are scared of getting the condition, try to watch the kind of lifestyle that you are living. This is definitely going to help you a great deal. There are many causes of hemorrhoids and a critical look at them will help you to watch it and be careful about it.

Firstly, pregnancy has a way of increasing the chances of a woman getting hemorrhoids. During pregnancy, the uterus becomes bigger and heavier and all these weights are usually on the rectal muscles. This pressure can lead to hemorrhoids in pregnant women. And for those who have the condition before getting pregnant, it can become worse due to the pregnancy. It is also important to note that a woman can also get hemorrhoids in the period when she is in labor, even if she has never had the health condition. This is usually as a result of the stress that delivery entails. A woman may also have hemorrhoids after her childbirth due to constipation. The soreness in the peri- anal and the anus for women can also cause this condition.

Another thing that can cause hemorrhoids is the postponement of bowel movement. Many people try to avoid using an unclean toilet and as a result, they would prefer to get to their comfort zone before having bowel movements instead of using the unclean one, even if they are seriously pressed. Although, sometimes, the unavailability of any toilet around may cause you to hold on till you get one. Note that holding back once in a while may not be harmful but if you make a habit out of it, you may get hemorrhoids. And note that when the stuff stays in your fecal colon for a long period of time, the water gets extracted and the feces get drier and harder, making it difficult for the feces to get through. In this situation, there will be need to force the feces out and this may cause weakness in the rectal muscle.

Diseases can also lead to hemorrhoids and one of those diseases is rectal cancer. Rectal cancer sometimes makes people feel they need to get to the toilet even when they do not need to. The outcome of this is the need to always go the ladies or gents and straining when nothing is really happening. Alcoholic individuals would also have problem with hemorrhoids. This is because the alcohol tends to enlarge their liver which usually has more impact on the rectal muscle.
