Anal Fissure If you ask people suffering from anal fissure or hemorrhoids, they will tell you that it is very painful. It is important to note that there is a difference between hemorrhoids and anal fissure. There are many who feel that their pain is as a result of hemorrhoids whereas what they are suffering from is actually anal fissure. Note that anal fissure is as a result of a cut or tear in the inner walls of the anus and this is usually as a result of straining when using the toilet. It can also be as a result of constipation. Diarrhea can also be a cause for anal fissure and you can bet that anal fissure can be excruciatingly painful. The pain is more when you are having a bowel movement and you have to widen your anus. Usually, there are traces of blood in your feces which is an indication that you have anal fissure. Also note that majority of people suffering from anal fissure do not need to have surgery to heal except in some serious and severe cases. Adding fiber to your diets would help you to heal when you are having anal fissure and if you cannot get fresh fiber sources around you, you may opt for fiber supplement as this will also help. An additional quantity of water can also go a long way to help you heal. Water helps to keep your stool soft and easy to pass through your anus walls. You can also try to take stool softeners which would help you to have bowel movement easily. Note however that these softeners do not work for a long time irrespective of what you are told by the manufacturer. It is better to have a natural way of softening your stool which lasts and is also very effective. Taking warm sitz also has an effect on the pain that is experienced from anal fissure. Try sitting in warm water for about twenty minutes for about three times every day. And if you have to wipe your anus, do not use tissue paper. Use a pad or cotton ball that is soaked in witch hazel. This will prevent adding more pressure on the cut. You may also use some cortisone creams to help heal the condition. You may also use Ibuprofen or Tylenol to reduce the pain that you are feeling. Hemorrhoid on the other hand is a swell in the anal vein and can be as a result of bad toilet habits. Such habits include straining or sitting on the toilet seat for a long time. With hemorrhoid, there would be noticeable traces of bright red blood. There are both internal and external hemorrhoids and the internal hemorrhoids appear within the anus. These are not usually very painful unlike the external hemorrhoids which are not only painful but may require surgery to correct. Both internal and external hemorrhoid can be reduced by having a warm bath, drinking plenty water and increasing the quantity of fiber you eat in your meal.
